International Women's Day is a global celebration of women's achievements across social, economic, cultural, and political arenas, but it's also an important day that highlights the inequality often experienced by women around the world. This year, on 8 March, IWD calls on everyone to #BreakTheBias and here at Nutrition Warehouse, we are always proud of our inspiring, uplifting and thriving women in the business. Let us introduce you to some of the great women who keep Nutrition Warehouse's wheels turning and what International Women's Day means to them!
Natalie Taylor – East Maitland Store Manager
"International Women's Day means celebrating women and the goddesses that they are. Powerful and strong and never giving up! I am proud of finally knowing who I am and my worth and getting stronger with my training, self-worth, and confidence every day. Women are powerful goddesses! I really love helping people achieve their goals and seeing people grow into their full potential."
Stacey Shapiro – Content Writer
"IWD is about celebrating women from the past, present and future but also acknowledging that many women still live in abject poverty, in domestic violence situations or struggle with inequality. I'm a fierce believer in gender equality and have always believed wholeheartedly in Nelson Mandela's opinion: 'If you want to change the world, help the women.' I truly believe that women make the world go round. Without women, the world would stop."
Kattee-Lee Bickerton - Sales Assistant Mackay store
"International Women's Day to me is a day to celebrate women's strength, a day to encourage and remind women what power they have, and most importantly, a day to thank all the women in our lives for all that they do for us. I believe women are strong, and I keep myself strong by competing in bodybuilding and powerlifting competition. I love working in the health and fitness industry, as I can help and inspire our customers to achieve their health and fitness goals. I find it so inspiring being around like-minded people and seeing our customers progress month to month is very uplifting!"
Sarah Linden - Manager at Nutrition Warehouse Mornington
"International Women's Day is all about Opportunity. An opportunity to reflect on the historical progression of women's rights and equality. Opportunity to acknowledge bold and courageous women who have acted. Opportunity to acknowledge that there is still a long way to go.
Studies show 1 in 3 women still experience gender-based violence in their lifetime. 43% of young women believe that discrimination towards women in politics holds them back from pursuing political careers.
This day shines a light on a dark place that needs to be acknowledged more - we need to empower & encourage each other, move forward in unity, leaders raising other leaders - make the choice to see every one of equal value (because they are) while celebrating our uniqueness.
Most of all - as I began to read various blogs and visit the IWD pages, it pushed me toward a moment of gratitude to be so thankful for living here. Many other countries have far less privilege and opportunities to speak up for their rights."
