Tell us why you chose the sport you compete in?

Throughout High School I was a dedicated track athlete and passionate Rugby player. However, after suffering two consecutive debilitating knee injuries requiring full reconstructions I was forced to retire and turn to the gym as a means of channeling my energies in a productive manner. I think one of the fundamental reasons that I gravitate to the pursuit of bodybuilding is that I am in control of all the variables. I can't blame a coach, team mates, a referee or the opposition for why I didn't achieve my goals. My training, nutrition and recovery are all facets inherent in my protocol that are within my control and my discipline determines my success. In the end the buck stops with me and I like having that sort of accountability.

What is your motivation to be the best at your sport?

The fear of unrealised potential. There is nothing worse than looking back on the past with regret wondering what could have been. This fear has a profound impact and influence on the way in which I eat, train and live.

What would you consider to be the most important aspect of success in your sport?

Consistency.

What is your training philosophy?

When it comes to training program design I think it's important to train smarter, not harder. When it comes to training in the gym I'm a huge proponent of executing perfect form and focusing on execution.

What is your nutrition philosophy?

I am a huge proponent of Flexible Dieting and dieting protocols that are backed by empirical evidence. I'm of the firm belief that exercising flexibility with your diet is the key to long-term sustainability. A highly restrictive diet protocol has a very short life-span and if you are looking for long-lasting results you must be willing to commit yourself to a lasting lifestyle change. There is nothing worse than falling off track with your diet and finding yourself falling down the hill because of one minor blemish. Don't strive for perfection, strive for consistency and the results will speak for themselves over the long-run.

How do supplements play a role in your recovery and performance?

Nutritious whole foods form the foundation of my dieting protocol, whilst supplements are the "icing on the cake". I have taken supplements in conjunction with my diet for many years now as a means of increasing my rate of recovery and aiding my performance in the gym. Whether it is a multi-vitamin first thing in the morning to account for any potential micronutrient deficiencies, a whey protein shake as a convenience food to hit my daily protein requirements or a teaspoon of Creatine Monohydrate to aid my performance in the gym, I've often turned to supplements to give me that extra edge.

If you could only choose 3 supplements to use for the rest of your life, what would they be and why?

EHPlabs Crea-8: widely-regarded as one of the most effective supplements to take in order to increase size and strength. EHPlabs OxyWhey: as a convenience food to hit my protein targets. I often mix it in with my Oats as a delectable Pre or Post-Workout meal. EHPlabs OxyShred: the perfect kickstart to my day when I'm dieting down during periods of calorie restriction. Alternatively used as a pre-workout to provide a nice surge of energy before training.

What is one supplement that you noticed had an immediate/significant impact on your success in your chosen sport?

Creatine Monohydrate - the increase in size and strength was noticeable within weeks. I personally take 5g (a teaspoon) of EHPlabs Crea-8 20-30 minutes prior to training.

Would you like to thank any sponsors?

I would like to thank the team at EHPlabs for their continued support of my personal fitness journey over the last 4 years. They have provided me with a platform to speak to a broader audience of fitness enthusiasts all across the globe and I am extremely grateful for the opportunities they have presented me.

And Finally... Do you have a morning ritual and if so what is it?

1-2 scoops of OxyShred with a multi-vitamin and a quick blast to my SnapChat followers wishing them a "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MOOOOOORNING!"
